  the us government is providing financial funds for "faith based entities" i wonder if watchtower has there hand out for these funds?.

  Tax exempt institutions would receive little to no funding from the federal government. Guidlines for behavior of faith based entities have been published. Most are adhering some are not.

  What are the rules on funding religious activity with Federal money?

  The United States Supreme Court has said that faith-based organizations may not use direct government support to support "inherently religious" activities. Basically, it means you cannot use any part of a direct Federal grant to fund religious worship, instruction, or proselytization. Instead, organizations may use government money only to support the non-religious social services that they provide. Therefore, faith-based organizations that receive direct governmental funds should take steps to separate, in time or location, their inherently religious activities from the government-funded services that they offer.

  i am totally lost.

  can someone explain what is happening with this issue, please?i read online that gb is trying to coverup or defend themselves and their organization... like what happened?

  isn't this horrible thing happening in all of the religions over the world...for example catholic church has got multiple scandals...but i just don't get it.

  The difference between the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses and the rest of the world is that they won't raise their hand and say "yes we have a horrible problem, we admit that our policies even propelled this problem, and we will do everything in our power to stop it".

  It will take many more lawsuits to bring them to their knees. They are stacked up to infinity and beyond. Matter of time.

  There is a misconception among members of the JW cult that any other "JW" that does something horrific is not "really a JW" or not a "normal JW". Of course they are. It works its way all up the ladder to the Governing Body.

  While you can disfellowship and shun "wrongdoers" and pretend like they were never a JW, thousands are getting away with egregious crimes and serving as "shepherds", pioneers, and regular rank and file members who would never claim any other religious affiliation. They know they have all the protections of being "a real JW".

  Films with nudity

  i guess every jw has a different conscience on the matter, and i don't believe any jw publications have ever specifically mentioned nudity in film as being off limits.

  of course genitals are out of the question because that's usually relegated to r movies which most good jws don't view.

  female toplessness is condoned but not spoken about, as most jws i know have seen titanic and many own it.

  It’s interesting the OP mentioned Titanic.

  The year after Tiranic won every award under the sun, the District Overseer visited our circuit 25 in Woodland Hills and gave a public discourse denouncing by name Titanic for its pornography and Star Wars for it’s mockery of the Bible and Jesus Christ.

  He shamed everyone in the audience that went to see the movies and didn’t walk out of theatres.

  people with their incredible stories of religious abuse.

  these people like the courageous people who were on the a&e show this last week have showed me and thousands of others the power of how just one person or even a small group of people can effect many.. the power of just one person standing up and saying "this is not right" has changed history.

  i believe that just because someone shows up at the voting booth, it doesn’t automatically qualify them to be legitimate voters.

  i think it’s not unreasonable to provide proof that you are qualified..

  Current non expired State ID or passport. Or birth certificate and current utility bill.

  It works in schools across the nation.

  rewatching the leah remini special and i accidentally referred to one of the governing body members as “brother”.

  simply because i have no other word.

  Quotes work for me and so do air quotes physically.

  When there is an audience they need to know the correct terminology and also that we no longer buy into it.

  Its true, the peeps on the Aftermath show would have had to use air quotes often. But it would have been impactful. I cringed every time they used a coin word like it was worthy of acknowledgement. Leah called Lloyd out on it once.

  Leah was sharp in her rebuke to Lloyd, “It is not Christianity!”

  Lloyd, “Well, that is their stance, what they claim.”

  Leah, “ But you are repeating it!”

  It was awkward. We knew what Lloyd meant and where he was coming from but it was clear it got under Leah’s skin.

  If it degenerated into a discussion of religious doctrine nothing would have been accomplished in exposing the horrific policies of WT.
